وب دایرکتوری، وب‌سایتی است که حاوی فهرستی از فراپیوندها به سایت‌های دیگر است که همگی دارای یک دسته‌بندی موضوعی هستند. در واقع وب دایرکتوری، سایت‌ها را بر اساس نوع محتوا و موضوع فعالیت دسته‌بندی می‌کند و موضوعات مرتبط و فراپیوندهای موجود در آن، توسط انسان‌ها جمع‌آوری و فهرست می‌شوند در حالی که موتور جستجو، دسته‌بندی وب سایت‌ها را بر اساس کلمات کلیدی انجام می‌دهد. افراد اگر بخواهند به ‎صورت موضوعی به معتبرترین وب‎سایت‌های یک حوزه (مثلاً گیاهان، جانوران، کسب ‎وکارها، علوم، ورزش، و امثال آن) دسترسی پیدا کنند، وب ‎دایرکتوری‎ها یکی از بهترین گزینه‌ها هستند. در ذیل، برخی از وب ‎دایرکتوری‌ها معرفی شده است.
